How many people love their braces? What about all those who request to have them (the famous term) “photoshopped” out of the picture. I love her full showing of the braces, I love her full smile. I love the snapshot in time, the time when she has braces. There is no holding back (mostly because she maybe was just letting me do my thing and she was focused on something else), no tight upper lip trying to cover the million dollar investment her parents have made. : ) That’s right, those things are expensive! Be proud, consider it your current form of bling.
What do feet have to do with summertime? Well, thank you for asking! To me, bare feet represent the essence of childhood and summertime. I remember running around with no shoes, even to Circle K for treats after getting leaves out of my neighbors pool (Thanks for that by the way!). The dirt, the grime, the constant wading into the pool, lake, beach, etc. Who needs clean feet when shoes and shocks won’t be on them and chances are the water will clean them! Who needs shoes in the summertime? It’s a sign- ready for fun, ready for the water, the heat… The special thing about these feet is those cute little freckles on the bottom. Have you ever looked at the bottoms of your feet? I wonder if she even knows she has these? :)
In a moment to get somewhat warm, he ran to the play center. He looked right at me and gave me some typical goofy faces and smiles. He knew what I wanted and in turn did what he usually does… BUT, I missed those. My camera had been switched to manual focus (thanks to my curious husband). I was trying to get focused assuming it was on the auto focus and in the meantime, I could see the blur of smiles and goofiness. I was bummed to miss it! I asked him to wait a second until I fixed up my camera and stole this shot as he was looking and waiting. It was his usual look yet so unusual for the expected performance in front of the camera.
I used my 70-200mm at 2.8. You won’t believe this but guess what? I love this lens. It is heavier than my car but worth it when you get great bokeh.
One of the first pictures I love here in WA. (There is no boost in color, it is just VERY green here.) Washington offers a great combination of color and light. The sky always seems to be perfect for outdoor pictures. I took these with my 50mm 1.4. I had everything else packed away and the 50mm was light weight and easy to carry around. I have fallen in love with this lens again. I never stopped loving it (is this a song, or what?) just remembered it fondly. : )
I have an announcement (is this sounding serious?)… Lisa Heuer Photography has moved to Kirkland, WA…. yes, Lisa Heuer Photography has a new location. It isn’t like it scooted around the corner! It is a big move with many adventures ahead! I recently posted a little tidbit about my studio (that I love) and a perfect comment was made (thanks Jen!), “may it rest in peace.” Oh, should I insert cry here or later? It certainly is hard to make changes and leaving the studio behind was one of the hardest!
I have seen beauty before but the beauty here in WA is an everyday (blessing) thing. The greenery, the rain, the water, the wetlands, the lake, the bridges, the trees, etc. are all so different than the brown and the cactus in AZ. OK, don’t misread here (and certainly don’t put your own ending to my story) I love AZ and have only known AZ for many years but change is good, it feels good. I’m not sure what my song and dance will be when it is December and I haven’t seen the sunshine for far too long and then February rolls around and still no sunshine…? I will be keeping sessions in AZ (of course a good reason to visit) so if you are interested send me a note. I will be updating here and through email the dates of AZ sessions so stay tuned.
Ok, the reason for my post-I was asked to be a guest speaker to a group of AZ women photographers. What a privilege! It was an honor to share with these ladies as well as learn from them! I am so passionate about business and I love photography and I guess when you put those two together, I am one hot mess. ; ) I can talk shop for hours and probably days so I am truly humbled that they would want to hear from me. The ladies were fabulous! …and then I was featured on Jess Leonard’s photo site.
I really enjoyed sharing and learning! Thanks ladies for inviting me to share and join you for the afternoon!
So off to getting settled I go!
Have I already mentioned this book? I probably should go back and look but I like it so much that I am willing to talk about it again (if indeed, this is round 2)! I read this (okay, honesty is getting to me… I bought the book on CD) at the beginning sometime of 2010 and I have listened to bits and pieces throughout the last few months. I love to follow Melissa Jill, and she mentioned this book the other day. It reminded me how awesome it really is. If you are in the car for more time than you are able to read, buy it on CD and listen while you drive. It’s better than trying to talk or text since that is dangerous anyway. : )
One of my 2010 goals was to read 3 books about the business. So, another addition to the collection for 2010!
